The Fairfield County District Library's architect incorporated some of the features of the historic houses of Lancaster into its design. The most prominent being the gabled roof.
Inside the library on the first floor are several features that were taken from the Effinger House and incorporated into the architecture of the historic room – the door, fanlight, windows, fireplace and mantel. In the 3rd floor gallery another door and fanlight are used as an eye catching detail in front of the stairway.
